WHAT WAS FILM by Tom Whiteside/Durham Cinematheque
In the digital era images have become, paradoxically, somewhat less tangible.
WHAT WAS FILM is an exhibition that puts 16mm motion picture film on display for close viewing. Some might think that film is obsolete, but film still is.
Tom Whiteside, a filmmaker and film historian, has been showing films as Durham Cinematheque since 1991.
The Third Friday reception includes food and drink and features live music by Chris Thomas. Chris has an MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke, has played with punk bands and is now a solo singer/songwriter.
